The Civil War breech-loader 4.2 inch Parrott rifle was made in several distinctive versions by the West Point
Foundry of Cold Spring, New York.
- The Navy version was 102" long* and weighed 3,500 lbs. Early guns had muzzle swell, later ones did not.
- The Army version was 126" long* and weighed 4,200 lbs. Early guns had muzzle swell, later ones did not.
- The Confederate version was 132" long* and weighed 4,700 lbs. All had muzzle swell.
